Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: None. Introduction Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is associated with left atrial (LA) remodeling, which increases the thromboembolic risk fibrillation (AF) and recurrence after catheter ablation AF. This study aimed to assess association between severity OSA LA remodeling. Method In 126 patients AF who underwent for (male 78.4% male, 58.0 ± 10 years old, persistent 27%), voltage distribution were analyzed during pacing. All subjects polysomnography screening OSA. We categorized into 4 groups based on was determined by respiratory disturbance index (RDI; RDI <5: normal, 5≤RDI<15: Mild, 15≤RDI<30: moderate, 30≤RDI: severe). The presence stroke factors (left appendage [LAA] pulse wave velocity < 20cm/sec, NT pro BNP >1,250 ng/l, spontaneous echo contrast [SEC] volume >32 ml/m3) evaluated. Result low area significantly greater (p=0.007) measured cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) larger (p=0.004). SEC (3.2% vs. 13.6%; p=0.201) LAA 20cm/sec 9.6%; p=0.454) higher in moderate severe but it did not reach statistical significance. multivariate regression analysis, total number stoke other than CHA2DS2-VASc (β=0.191; p=0.037). Conclusion has significant relationship factors.

Sleep Apnea in Patients with Stroke and Related Risk Factors
Background and Objectives: Sleep apnea involves repetitive cycles of obstructive sleep that disrupt sleep. This complication is the most important modifiable risk factors for stroke. The aim of this study was to assess sleep apnea in patients with stroke. Material and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 132 patients with stroke were recruited using convenience samplin...
متن کاملImpact of Atrial Fibrillation Ablation on Left Ventricular Filling Pressure and Left Atrial Remodeling
BACKGROUND Left ventricular (LV) diastolic dysfunction is associated with new-onset atrial fibrillation (AF), and the estimation of elevated LV filling pressures by E/e' ratio is related to worse outcomes in patients with AF. However, it is unknown if restoring sinus rhythm reverses this process. OBJECTIVE To evaluate the impact of AF ablation on estimated LV filling pressure. METHODS A tot...

Sleep Apnea and the Risk of Stroke in the Elderly To the Editor: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is emerging as an important risk factor for stroke. Recent prospective studies, focusing on middle-aged adults with OSA, showed an increased risk of stroke after a follow-up that varied from 4 to 10 years.1–3 In addition, Marin et al found that continuous positive airway pressure therapy promotes sign...

CASE A 72 year old male with a past medical history of hypertension and obesity is admitted to the hospital after acute onset of right sided facial droop and difficulty lifting the right arm and leg. Physical examination confirmed right face, arm, and leg weakness and MRI revealed a lacunar infarct of the left internal capsule. The patient had an uneventful hospital and rehabilitation course wi...
